Break free from traditional office landlines and empower your staff to work from any location. With Concise Converse you get the flexibility to work from anywhere and the scalability for growth.

Over the last 18 months as the world changed due to the Covid-19 pandemic and as businesses now start to re-open, it is apparent that flexible or hybrid working is high on many companies agendas. Research including YouGov and CIPD research indicates that 40% of employers expect more than half their workforce to work regularly from home

Telephony and being able to communicate with one another, continue to play a key part in this.

With continued lockdowns, further school closures and ongoing requirements for staff to self-isolate due to close contacts still affecting every business in the UK and across the globe,  most workforces have been forced to adopt more flexible ways of working and many have embraced new methods of collaborating with colleagues and clients.

>The explosion in the use of Microsoft Teams and other video calling applications such as Zoom, both for work purposes and in our personal lives, to keep in touch with family and friends, looks like a trend that will remain even if “normal” office practices return.

However, as time goes on there is growing evidence that the changes have been positive and more companies will not be returning to the traditional office-based standard 9-5 working week and a hybrid or full work-from-home model will remain.

As such the ability for your staff to make and receive business phone calls wherever they are working is going to be crucial for your continued business success and staff retention.

Technology is your friend – equipping the mobile workforce

In the initial scramble in March 2020 to close offices and get staff set up to work effectively from home, those companies that had already adopted Microsoft Office 365 and remote working protocols were able to continue to function relatively easily but those that were still using legacy technologies found it much harder and some have still not caught up.

>With the predominance of mobile phones these days, one thing that often gets forgotten about is the office phone system and as our working practices continue to change, being able to take your business calls anywhere and from multiple devices is now a business necessity.

Cut the ties of legacy systems

As your traditional work desk moved to your spare room, dining room table or makeshift office space, your work phone number needed to move too.

Lost phone calls are lost business and even worse, eventually, they become lost customers.

What we have seen over the last few months is that many businesses are still using legacy phone systems and the traditional landlines that are provided on BT’s network.

These physically tie your office phone numbers to the office building, making diverting phone calls and call continuity for remote staff difficult and costly – if indeed it is possible at all.

Often these older phone systems and phone lines are on expired contracts that can also be expensive and if a bill review hasn’t been done for a few years there could be significant savings to be made.

Furthermore, this traditional landline network is due to be overhauled with BT retiring the old ISDN technology by 2025 with no new orders being accepted for ISDN any longer.

As such now is a good time to look at alternatives and upgrade any legacy phone systems, give staff the flexibility and productivity gains they need and future proof your business technology and reduce costs.

But how do we do this?

We have worked with many clients who have wanted to save money and also make sure their staff have the best communication methods available.

The global pandemic accelerated this requirement. By switching legacy phone lines and numbering to newer hosted phone system technology, phone calls can be made over existing internet connectivity and best of all using a hosted phone system solution gives much more flexibility on where numbers and calls are delivered and also on which device a user chooses.

hosted-cloud-phone-systems-concise-converseOur hosted phone system solution, Concise Converse, can enable work calls to find you on a traditional desk phone, laptop, PC or existing mobile device.

This also means the calls can be centrally controlled, recorded and usage monitored and reported on if required.

Additional collaboration applications can also add to this experience to allow things like screen sharing or chats, vital for productivity when your staff are working remotely, and if your business has already started using Microsoft Teams it can even be integrated with this to allow non-Teams calls to take place from the same interface.

Overall adopting a cloud-based phone solution will enable greater flexibility for your business to be more agile in receiving and making phone calls but also future proof your important business phone numbers with happier, more productive staff as a bonus.
